We understand that you trust us with your information and we take that trust seriously. Therefore, in this document, we explain the information we collect, the reasons for collecting it, how it is used, and your rights regarding your information.

This Privacy Policy applies to websites, applications, events, and other services operated by Umatch. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as "services" in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information we collect
In order to confirm that you are a university student and to help you create new meaningful relationships, it is clear that we need to obtain some personal information. We also collect information generated through your use of our services. If you want to obtain more information, we will go into details next.
Information you provide to us
The provision of information to us when using our services is your choice, which includes:
When creating an account, you provide us with the name of your university, your name, email, date of birth, password for Umatch, gender, sexual preference, and, if we cannot confirm that you are a student through your email, document(s) that prove you are enrolled at the university you claimed or that you graduated less than 1 year ago. Data regarding the sexual life or sexual orientation of the user is considered sensitive according to the LGPD (General Data Protection Law). By choosing to provide us with this information, you authorize our processing of it.
By completing your profile, you can share additional information with us, such as a description of your profile and photographs. To add certain content, for example, images, you may allow access to your camera or photo album. Some of the information you choose to provide us may be considered "special" or "confidential" in certain jurisdictions, such as your ethnic or racial origins, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs. Again, by choosing to provide us with this information, you authorize our processing of it.
When you participate in surveys or group discussions, you provide us with your opinions about our products and services, answers to our questions, and testimonials.
When you choose to participate in our promotions, events, or contests, we collect the information used to register you or to participate.
If you contact our customer service team, we collect the information provided during the interaction.
We also process your conversations with other users as part of the operation of the services.

When you use our services, we collect information about which features you used, how you used them, and the devices used to access our services. Please see the information below for more details:
Usage Information: We collect information about your activity on our services, for example, when you use them (e.g., the date and time you started the session, features you used, searches, clicks, and pages you were presented with, referring web page addresses, advertisements you click on) and how you interact with other users (e.g., users you connect and interact with, date and time of interactions, number of messages you send and receive).
Device Information: We collect information about you and the device(s) you use to access our services, including:
hardware and software information, such as IP address, device identity and type, app settings and characteristics specific to the device, app errors, advertising ID (such as Google's AAID and Apple's IDFA, both of which are randomly generated numbers that can be reset in your device settings), browser type, version and language, operating system, time zones, identifiers associated with cookies or other technologies that can uniquely identify your device or browser (e.g., IMEI/UDID and MAC address);
information about your mobile or wireless network connection, such as service provider and signal strength;
information about device sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses.
Other information with your consent: If you authorize us, we can collect your exact geolocation (latitude and longitude) through various means, depending on the service and the device you use, including GPS, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi connections. The collection of your geolocation may occur in the background even when you are not using the services if the authorization you grant us expressly allows for this collection. If you refuse to authorize the collection of your geolocation, we will not collect this data. Similarly, if you authorize us, we can collect your photographs (for example, if you upload a photo to our services).

Providing you with our service: most of the time, the reason we process your information is to fulfill the contract you have with us. For example, as you use our service to create meaningful connections, we use your information to manage your account and profile, making them visible to other users and also to recommend other users to you.
Legitimate interests: we may use your information in cases where we have legitimate interests to do so. For example, we analyze user behavior in our services to continuously improve our offerings, suggest offers that we believe may be of interest to you, and process information for administrative purposes, fraud detection, and other legal effects.
Consent: occasionally, we may ask for your consent to use your information for specific purposes. You can refuse your consent at any time by contacting us using the address provided at the end of this Privacy Policy.
4. Data sharing
Only certain specific employees of the Customer Service and authorized responsible persons at Umatch process your personal data for the purposes described above. These employees and authorized persons have access only to the unique data necessary to carry out their functions.
Approved and reliable service providers and partners may likewise have access to and/or process your personal data on behalf of Umatch in accordance with the respect of the Privacy Policy and ensure the security and privacy of these. These providers help us operate and enhance our Services, primarily regarding:
to the data hosting;
the identification and prevention of fraud and scams;
to studies, analyses, and statistics;
the use of the Application and/or the correct functioning of the Application;
the provision of the necessary assistance to you;
to the management of complaints;
to marketing and advertising, with the aim of sending offers, messages, and relevant content to you.
Finally, we may disclose your personal data upon request from state authorities, namely legal authorities, to respond to legal or lawful requests.
5. Your rights
You have the following rights, granted by the Personal Data Protection Law and the GDPR:
Right to confirmation and access: is the user's right to obtain from the application confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning them is being processed and, if so, the right to access their personal data;
Right to rectification: it is the user's right to obtain from the application, without unjustified delay, the rectification of inaccurate personal data that concerns them;
Right to data deletion (right to be forgotten): is the user’s right to have their data deleted from the application;
Right to limit the processing of data: is the user's right to limit the processing of their personal data, which can be obtained when they contest the accuracy of the data, when the processing is unlawful, when the application no longer needs the data for the proposed purposes, and when they have opposed the processing of the data and in the case of processing unnecessary data;
Right to oppose: is the user's right to oppose, at any time, for reasons related to their particular situation, the processing of personal data concerning them, and to oppose the use of their personal data for profiling purposes;
Right to data portability: is the user's right to receive personal data concerning them and that they have provided to the application, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and the right to transmit this data to other applications;
Right not to be subject to automated decisions: it is the user's right not to be subject to any decision made exclusively based on automated processing, including profiling, which produces effects on their legal sphere or significantly affects them in a similar way.
You can exercise your rights by sending written communication to the application with the subject "GDPR-", specifying:
Full name or company name, CPF number (Individual Taxpayer Registration from the Federal Revenue of Brazil), and email address registered with Umatch;
Right that you wish to exercise with the application;
Order date and your signature;
Any document that can demonstrate or justify the exercise of your right.

We will inform you in case of rectification or deletion of your data.
6. Browsing data (cookies)
Cookies are small files sent by the application to the user's computer and stored there, containing information related to the application's browsing.
By means of cookies, small amounts of information are stored by the user's browser so that our server can read them later. For example, data about the device used by the user, as well as their location and the time of access to the application, may be stored.
Cookies do not allow any file or information to be extracted from the user's hard drive, and it is also not possible to access personal information that did not originate from the user or how they use the application's resources.
It is important to emphasize that not all cookies contain information that allows for the identification of the user, as certain types of cookies may be used simply to ensure that the application loads correctly or that its functionalities work as expected.
The information eventually stored in cookies that allow for the identification of a user is considered personal data. Thus, all the rules provided in this Privacy Policy also apply to them.
Cookies in the app
The application's cookies are those sent to the user's and administrator's computer or device exclusively by the application.
The information collected through these cookies is used to improve and personalize the user experience, and some cookies may, for example, be used to remember the user's preferences and choices, as well as to offer personalized content.

Some of our partners may set cookies on the devices of users who access our application.

The user can oppose the registration of cookies by the application, simply by disabling this option in their own browser or device.
However, disabling cookies may affect the availability of some tools and features of the application, compromising its proper and expected functioning. Another possible consequence is the removal of user preferences that may have been saved, harming their experience.

7. Retention period for personal data
We keep your data for the entire period necessary for the use of your account, that is:
During the member registration period, extended for one year. After one year of inactivity on your account, the latter will be canceled and your data will be kept for one year before being permanently destroyed. Your account is considered inactive if your application has not contacted our servers and you have not used the application. It should be noted that, according to our quality of hosting providers, we have a legal obligation to retain certain personal data for a period of one year, in accordance with Article 6, II of the Law of Trust in the Digital Economy of June 21, 2004.
When you delete your account or request its deletion to the customer service, it is removed from the application. However, your data will be kept in a separate database for one year before being permanently destroyed, in order to allow us to fulfill our obligation to retain as hosting providers.
Your email address will be retained for business development purposes for 1 year after 1 year of account inactivity. In case of account deletion, the email will not be used for business development purposes.
With regard to requests for the exercise of rights: during the necessary period for us to prove that you provided a response to requests in case of litigation or inspection: 1 year from the month following your request.
We are committed to making every effort and using the means at our disposal to ensure the maximum security of the stored data. However, it is up to you to take the appropriate measures to protect your data.
8. Personal data of minors
Our services are limited to users aged 18 years or older. We do not allow the use of our platform by users under 18 years of age and do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. In the event of false testimony by a user regarding their date of birth and, more specifically, in the case of fraudulent representation regarding their age, the parents of the minor are invited to notify us via email at help@umatch.app, with the intent to request that the data be deleted. We are committed to deleting the set of personal data related to the minor as soon as possible.
